Hi, I’m Sarah.
I think that as humans, we often don’t experience someone who is 100% hearing us out and is completely in our corner. This makes the counseling relationship a special one for me because I get to be that person for you. Someone who listens, roots for you, and cares deeply for your well-being.
I tend to gravitate towards a strengths-based approach, because I believe you have what you need in you already to make the changes you want. I will encourage you to look within yourself to identify your values and we will work together to find ways that you can take action to live by what’s important to you. I practice from a trauma-informed lens, incorporating Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you get to the root of what is causing your pain and heal past traumas. Throughout this process, I incorporate mind-body approaches to help you develop skills to cope in a healthy way, such as guided meditation and breathing exercises. I have a diverse background in treating substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and navigating life changes.
Figuring what you want in this life and starting to live your truth can be a daunting process. I’m here for you as you start to bring your secrets, dreams, and emotions to the forefront of your mind instead of pushing them aside to simply survive the day-to-day. I know that we all have our own demons and I think it’s important to remember that building trust to shed light on those takes time. Coming to counseling to work on yourself can be hard, but I promise that you are a worthy investment. I truly admire my clients for getting out of their comfort zone and for making changes that positively impact their lives.
Some important things to know about me:
-If I’m not in session, I’m probably playing soccer or rock climbing.
-My favorite spot is anywhere that my nose can be in a good book.
-My dogs Hunter and Nova are as good at keeping your secrets as I am. You can often spot them in the background of sessions with me.
